I remember when
the sun shone for
no other reason
but to smile upon us
white cotton
floated across
a sea of blue
laughter became
infectious and
to inhale fresh air
was a given
now,
the sun shines
but is only
a reflection
of yesterdays
smog overlooks a city
in mourning as acid
cries its own
tears choking life
from tomorrow's children
