There Are Worse Things -

My obsession with silence
Preoccupied with stillness
A quiet pool in my mind
My heart is both isolated
And immersed
I guess there are worse things.

Hawks rip apart the sparrow
And she had two little ones at home
Blood spray in the air
And someone dies
And someone stays alive
For now
I guess there are worse things.

You don't look outside your window
Knowing you'll see what you can't stand
Can't bare
Things you can't comprehend
Because you only focus on the box

Walls and floors and ceilings
You tape the halves of your sanity
To keep yourself together
To hide in the grey
To hide in what's okay for today
Because you are so afraid
Of colors and wind

Tomorrow is always another day
But tomorrow isn't yours
You don't see it that way
And you never will
When you live in a box
But I guess, there are worse things.

The ocean shore is lonely
Dark woods sing to me in the night
Moonlight wild
My eyes reflect the light
Wonder blooms inside like a child
My hands always fall short the mark
But I always try
I know there are worse things.

Walk with me
So I can have a moment with you
Smile for me
So I can have an instant of proof
That there is more than what lies under and above me
So I can see the life that shines from the depths of you

Wanderer
Quiet song on the wind
I walk and it speaks to me
Like it speaks to the trees
And the rocks as they fall from my hands
River water washes my knees
My feet lost in the sifting sands

Sitting on a stone
Feet in the foam
Ripples and midnight quiet
Stars speak to my heart
From the eternal dark
Even though I'm afraid of heights
But I guess, there are worse things...
