Boy Legends

“Blue. Like the color you see in a sunset
With a bit of purple splattered in the middle”
He said, sprawled out on my bedroom floor
Just making my heart
Ache, with wish

The evening was filled with awkward door openings
And folding conversations, you know the kinds that bend
And mesh together like fallen October leaves
It was the kind of night where you remember the small things,

I wanted to tell him the truth
That my biggest regret was,
Sleeping with someone I never actually loved
That life isn’t as simple as all of us really think
And People fall in and out of love exponentially
I wanted to tell him, I suck at math and chess
But I know that he and I have chemistry
I wanted to tell him that I didn’t mind his science diatribes
And his history lesson on Newton, Feynman and Einstein
I actually fell a little more, for his passion

He told me a story of his childhood
Cartoon creatures living in VHS tapes
And fears of ET,
How do you get someone so unpredictable?

Our first kiss was just that
Harsh, rough and nervous
But tonight
It was like kissing rain
Melting against a surface soft and malleable
It was just like a sunset blending into the Cape Cod seashore

And when he kissed me I knew,
He was going to be another one of my,
“Boy legends”.

Please tell me what you think
