I Remember, Can You?

I remember when you stood by my side,
smiling at my babbling words,
laughing with me as i giggled my way through childhood.
The thought of being without you was far from my mind.

"I love you daddy", those words were so natural.
The words that meant so much,
that flowed with such ease,
are now meaningless.

My life is a distorted image
warped into an abstract piece of art
that you so talently crafted.

Tracing your finger around my heart
slowly melting the ice that surrounds it,
water drips from my eyes in the shape of tears.

Do you remember daddy?
When you see me now, do you ever miss your little girl?
Remember the one you swore to keep safe,
the one that you have destroyed.

You obviously deserve so much more love than he gave to you. Don't let him get you down; you have blossomed into a beautiful and successful human being with or without his guidance, and I know you will do great things in your life. I'm so glad I get to be a part of your life and watch you grow. =]
    As always, great poetry. <3
