Fear versus Integrity

                                                                                                    Seattle, Washington/America

Innocent  lil' child

conquering  streets of Seattle.

Not a care or thought in the world

as to who or what was living next door.

Our only worry….

the speed of muscle and bike

casting us unto journeys

of imaginative delight.

A time when you better

be back for dinner,

or Ma…will call

the Dragon queens

lining our moats and streets.

Watching…waiting....

scenting sight.

(the biggest tattle-tellers I ever met)

Within this ethnic neighborhood

I never knew the meaning

of prejudice or ignorance

we had higher priorities.

How to walk

the fence of death

and live….to tell

it’s fabulous tale.

Forty feet high….

we’d tip-toe across,

each step boldly mocking us.

I couldn’t help

but sigh,

when full-grown,

the size of this fence

was a mere four foot tall.

Perhaps, that was never

the point….

For an innocent child

truly believes;

the size of you

and the size of me

is indeed…

forty feet tall.

Stomping the devil

each day heavens lesson

taught;

Fear versus Integrity.

 A bold warrior!

    Looking back

To gather such loving thoughts is fascinating.
I was crazy about speeding bikes. The soothing gushes of wind, leaving both hands at high speeds, racing with what ever and whenever someone tried to overtake etc etc.
Risking to climb a mountain on tough sides in sheer stupidity was fun.
This is a wonderful poem in pure untainted emotions very much like living life again; as the reader goes through the words and lines.

    GOLD, I SAY!!!

Yes, I can definitely see the positive and truthful message in this write. Something I believe we discussed...two days ago. The world is changing, and sometimes, I fear for the worse. The fence did seem forty feet tall when we were just smaller kids (it'd be a shame to not harbor that small kid still) only to understand that it was really four feet tall. There is no dimming of respect their, and the values don't change. When it's down to the nitty-gritty it is the truth of the matter that is revealed. We need more people to make these understandings. We need more parents to take responsibility to raise their kids and teach them morals. Give them intergrity and love. Give them knowledge. The understanding to accept things that they cannot change. The serenity to accep the things the can't change. And the wisdom to understand the difference. Marvelous write! *clappy* *clappy* *clappy*

You were truly born a giantess of the Seattle streets, milady! From strength comes strength, our integrity is formed while in those childhood days; alas, we have to leave them too soon, though at the time it seems we wish to be older. Then, when we are older, it seems we spend quite a lot of time and effort to be young again...tis a sad lesson, but we cope.

I had to chuckle about the tattle-tales, are they EVERYWHERE??

Good write, love, you have shown me up once again, LOL! I will have to dig up some of the old stuff about my childhood days and send them your way. By the way, in my opinion there is no such thing as "childish"...
