Risky Ploy

Easing to the raile
tantalizing lures
flicker, soft pulses

Prickles dance
lashes prance
lips entrance

whispered wisps
pulling deep roots
sans scanties... all or none

early dribbles
lapping morsels
Elvira's dwarf whimpers

As the mind wanders, how can we rein in the abstractions, or better still, why should we?

    Clever

Like the interesting approach to illustrating in a highly effective way how our thoughts can take off when unchecked. The language you have employed in writing this poem is wonderful - strong images and the sounds they suggest are perfect. An excellent work which I am delighted to read!! Good luck in the contest - they should give this one a really good look.

      Thank you very much

Yes, if we can allow our imaginations to run unchecked and let out the "stream of consciousness" without the overtures of compliance, then "stuff" happens and it is up to the reader to deal with it.

Creative "pass the buck" approach that can be disconcerting to some and imphish prattle to others... Oh well!, sort of like one person's junk, another's treasure!

      Glad you enjoyed!

The magic of abstract is that it can appeal to many people in very many ways. Words and phrases scattered, bringing images that will find a home in all hearts somewhere. It's a talent that seems to be gifted instead of learned, as I can't seem to nail it down. You are a gifted writer bj. I always love your author notes, and in this one, they explain the magic of abstract perfectly.

      Come on Now

      Malmadre:
I know how good you are, I have read a bunch of your pieces. As I recall, my mind was intrigued with the stories, the images and the lyrical gifts that you apply to the abstractions that are laced within most of them.

Yes, you may work within a tighter context, but in no way are you limited by the absence of creative abstraction. Anyone who has a passion for art - writing, painting, music, etc. - is a person who is transported by the "flying carpet of abstraction". That being the case, you just cannot avoid using it to create, regardless of the mode. Think about it!

      Smile!

    Captivating

Your words are simply luscious. You have written such a truly cativating verse that so accurately speaks to your an's. Exactly how are minds work when we let them loose. Like what you have done with the sounds of the words as well as their meanings. The title is the icing on the cake. Really adds to the reader's experience. This verse is so well done!
