I was in bondage
Didn't want to give in.
I was caught by guilty pleasures
Wrapped up in sin.
Now I surrender
All that I am
I lay down my life
For the freedom to walk
I surrender everything for the freedom to talk.
Without a sword of judgement.
Without chains to tie me down
In the reflection of the mirror I see my soul,
I feel fulfilled, complete and whole.
I stand before my enemies
I know that it is right
Always and forever
By day and by night
I am humbled by your love
As I shelter from the storms,
For all eternity.
The truth is I could not fight
I turned and backed away -
Now I am standing in the light.
I value what is important
Without you these chains could not have been broken
Without you these words could not be spoken
In chains no longer
I've been set free
The darkness no longer blinds me
In clarity I see.
The night is no longer
The day is to stay
Without chains I am sanctified
Cleansed by your blood.

A wonderful write to show how we can require the freedom Jesus had died for us for...Amen. -
very nice
this was good
so true -
I found this to be an intriguing poem, the originality of the phrases captures the emotion and there is a subtle statement of faith in the conclusion. I don’t know if that was intentional but that’s how it made me feel. Bravo!
