where do we turn when the lies sweep in from all directions
when faces are worn only to be pleasing to the eye
to lure us in and suffocate us in weightless promises
when the belittlement takes the forefront and truth is
no longer truth but opinion
when an affiliation means more than the body it should represent
when the battle is not for glory but for dominence
and it is well cloaked with righteous indignation,
one cannot believe the other would lie this way
do we not want to be represented with one voice
a voice that speaks with the authority
and the visions of our forefathers
to live in a country based on life liberty and the pursuit of happiness
that we all live as free and equal beings
that our government is by the people and for the people
and that to hold an office is to hold our sacred trust
one can only hope that the masks will come off
that the person who is seated at the head of our great nation
is a person who looks out upon this land
that sees it with an honest heart
and makes no law that denies the rights of any of its varied peoples
we as a nation can pray, in whatever fashion we do
and hope we are answered with a true and just leader

Excellent truth and wisdom
Yes, "one can only hope that the masks will come off" and pray fervently for His will to be done.
Well written.

I believe you stated this quite well, very nicely done.
We can only have hope.
