I'm on my way to granny's house
would you like to go with me
she lives far out in the woods
behind some crooked trees.
I must warn you she's eccentrict
about skulls and other things
she's started a new collection
it's one I haven't seen.
We walked upon the wooden porch
each board did sway and creak
my hair stood up on my neck
my heartbeat reached its peak!
Something felt so eery
seeing cobwebs spread on all
even covering windows thick
yet no spiders did I find!
Knock knock, it echoed loudly
hearing footsteps coming now
I thought I heard a girl scream
then all went deadly quiet!
As we waited for her to answer
a big wind blew 'cross the yard
there scattered among the leaves
was bones and scary things!
A tiny voice behind the door
ask kindly who we were
"It's me granny," shouted Eve
I brought a friend with me.
Come right on in she says to us
as the door slams suddenly shut
I promised not to be afraid, still
I shuddered at the site!
Upon her fireplace was 7 skulls
candles burning bright inside
while in bird cage she had bats
and a squirrel she called a cat.
She talked of days long past
like a time she was a witch
speaking of the curses placed
and the ghost who haunts her house.
I felt a draft and turned to look
to see eyes in a picture that moved,
it felt as if something was watching me
and then a raven flew through!
She wanted to show us more
taking out her crystal ball
once used to call forth spirits
and make the dead rise once more!
She closed her eyes and started
to chant in words I've never heard
suddenly a man appeared with a knife
stuck deep in his back dripping blood!
I'm not sure how she did it
nor do I really want to know
I whispered to my friend
I think it's time for us to go!
She told her granny we must leave
granny pleaded "why don't you stay"
I have some toad stew cooking now
there's always room for one more!
