The sun slowly goes down
kissing the feathery tree line,
The sound of crickets loudly chirp
while tiny stars blink from an azureous sky.
Emerging from the wooden cabin
I look up to the heavens,
Diamonds twinkle in the black abyss
and a grin appears upon my face.
While walking down the creaking stairs
I hear an owl not far away,
there I encounter his yellow eyes
staring intently into mine.
I hike the muddy and beaten path
being cautious of the gravelly ground,
and then I sense a rustling above me
Beholding night creatures gliding on branches.
Further on with my beaming lantern
I discover an open meadow,
A scene of fireflies welcome my passing,
bestowing a gift of a celestial sky.
There I gaze at the constellations
of the Hunter and the Queen
and the glistening moon;
I have found this starry sanctuary.
My eyes grows heavy
and I begin to sigh,
I grab my little lantern
and wander back to my cabin.
I smell the fresh pine that the wind has offered
I wish the fireflies a good night
I look in the eyes of nature
This is my night hike, come and join me.

Such beautiful imagery. I love most, though, the way you create an entire wood around the reader. I became immersed in this scene hearing every little sound and poising my ear for the rustling of some leaves.
Take care,
