She is no longer able to care
I can’t imagine what happened here
She keeps to herself most of the time
There is no reason or rhyme
No one notices the storm
And how much she is worn
She always stood proud and tall
What could have possibly made her fall
Her eyes were always eager to see
I don’t see that now when she’s looking at me
So wasted she seems frail
If only she’d tell her tales
I heard her talk of dreams back then
So long ago I can’t remember when
Life for her has become matter of fact
Simple and trite, it’s love she lacks
She’s the one who taught me all
Impossible for this woman to fall
Says she’s just not sure anymore
Things have changed, she’s insecure
Through my tears I can almost make out her face
Simple lines I use to trace
So very familiar in this very place
Hers is a very sad case
What happened to her is a travesty
She only just wanted to be
As the fog clears on the mirror
She turns to hide the pain and furor
As I see my own reflection now
I just cry and raise my brow
Silently I’ll continue to cry
Until perhaps the day I die

Quite heartfelt as either we look at ourself or the soul of another who is close to us. Feels as if you may be speaking a your mother now that she is gone and the memories of her strength. Well written and emotional. Good luck in the contest.

I really enjoyed this. I'm glad you managed to get it in some way

I can see absolutly no failt in the rhyme.Outstanding.
My favourite part was the last stanza. Those four lines contain A LOT of emotion that just sets into you heart. This poem will be one i wont forget in a hurry -
