Musing About Friendship

Missing image

Like breezes that blow refreshing us

Friends come upon us bringing

Their own special charm

Bringing warmth or cool winds

To invigorate, give us encouragement

With words, with deeds giving

That special touch to our lives

In needy times, feeling good times

Friends can be the really young

Or of the older generation

With their wisdom shared

Providing for that need

We too give out of our treasury

Of life's bounty of experiences

What we have read, learned

Through living and from God

Our Lord spices up our friendships

As He makes all things more meaningful

For He is our true friend

That never changes, always faithful

Yes, some friends come and go

Some remain true, ever the same

Ripening with age

May your best friends grow with you

And may you gain many more

In your day to day life

May you win someone's heart

For a loving friendship for a lifetime!

Breathed with a prayer from a casual

            friend to you

Author notes

The metaphor of friendships as refreshing breezes coming to refresh us, was on my mind as I wrote...Hope the poem refreshes...Dedication to all who would like to be a good friend, and to Bob who has exemplified his true Godly character all the while since I joined AP...God bless you Bob! Wonderful... they say you can count the number of true friends on one hand, and I agree... to me, its not the number of friends, but the quality of friends.. this write highlights that wonderfully

Beautifully written ; so refreshing to read, like taking a cool shower on a warm summer's day, I really enjoyed reading this - you caught many aspects of friendship within it, and, as someone else commented, it was like a prayer also! Very nicely done!

This feels like a prayer and a toast combined. Quite refreshing and oh so loving to a special friend.
