Almond Toffee

The taste of almond toffee that's too thick to let you chew
The sweetness of the season traps my teeth
If I could move my jaws at all I'd tell you I love you
The toffee holds my tongue trapped underneath

The nuts we sliced as flavouring remind me of your smile
The stickiness is how you make me feel
And when I'm done I'll talk to you, it may be quite a while
My love for you is passionate and real

And now the softer side begins the toffee's like our life
At first you're stuck and don't know what to do
But now I'm at the second stage, I want you for my wife
But still you'll find I'm stuck to you like glue

Let's kiss and get the pan down then we'll make another batch
So you and I can stick around as one
You have to grab life as you go and I have made a catch
And toffee's the epitome of fun

You came highly recommended by an AP poet named Amera, your link is in a poem she just composed. In fact, I see she commented on this poem. I must say, I’m impressed. This poem reads flawlessly with amazing rhyme. I am so impressed that you can make it rhyme so well considering the length of the lines. Bravo!

Thank-you for reading and commenting, I was recommended to read you also by Amera (and there are no better poets to have recommending you) and also by Lane. I did so on the train on a phone so could not easily leave a comment, I shall be back.
Thank-you again for very kind comments.

Hehe, this is a sweet love poem (pun intended) What a wonderful job you did on this. I would have tried to compete with you but it seems Mairi is one of the friends I lost with my breakup with Allan, she wouldn't appreciate my entry.

    Love,
    Amera♥
