How can I thank you for the life you have helped me live,
How can I thank you for the time that you had to give,
How can I tell you how grateful I am
For the person you have helped me to be.
Those times when you sat and listened,
As you mentored me
As I spoke of all the pain
The pain that crippled me inside,
That made me reside
In a shell
But, you helped me to unravel
The ball of pain.
I was a different person then,
I didn't know who I was.
I didn't understand God,
Nor did I understand what a true friend was.
I kept myself to myself,
Too afraid to trust,
But you sat there beside me
Sometimes you listened
Sometimes you talked
Sometimes it was all I needed
For you to sit there at my side
As the pain of the years cried out
Those tears I'd tried to hide.
The rape,
The bullies,
Those suicidal times
As I got married
You watched with humility
So how can I say thank you?
Thank you for helping me.

a beautiful write. sorta brings hope to life.
all the best in your future -
I have people similar to this in my life; one important figure stands out as I think back. It's so important to have someone who listens and "watch with humility". That helps too.
