Be a part of My family.
I love you, let you do
Whatever it is you love to.
I’ll stay a sweet baby, born in a barn;
Won’t grow up and cause alarm.
I’ll not talk about My blood or flesh,
Hell seems an awful big stretch.
I’ll just bless and bless and bless,
Never point out your life’s a mess.
It’s just My aim to make you happy,
I’ll say something quick and snappy.
I’ll let you think what you want of Me.
I have no issue with what you see.
If you think of something wrong,
Heck! That’s just where you belong!
I’ll just be sweet, something simple.
I love to be so sentimental!
Not the Name above all names,
A friend who’s with you in those flames.

“I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.”--John 5:43
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.”-- Galatians 1:8-10

I don't know...if I like it, I'm not sure what you are trying to do here. It sounds sarcastic to me...Maybe I am just reading it with the wrong frame of mind. "not the Name above all names" I just can't see Him denouncing that..

You know me better than that...
Is it possible that many "Christians" have this kind of view of Christ? When Jesus first appeared when He did, didn't many people have a view of the Messiah that was not in accordance to scripture?
Is it possible that many have an idea of divine love that is not Biblical?
Would I really post something that was "sarcastic" or "defaming toward the real Christ?
It may help you to read the verses that come with this.
Consider the writer.
Consider the Bible.
Consider the true Christ.
God bless, sis... -

Yes I do know you better than that, and I guess that's why I don't really like this piece. I think if it was confusing for me it could be confusing for non believers. I guess I just don't like negative takes on our Lord...though I now understand what you were doing here. Reading the other comments helped...

Maybe your confusion was used by the Lord to have a needed answer be made. Maybe the confusion will help non-believers. When I'm confused I seek input from reliable sources.
Is the Bible reliable? The only reason many didn't recognize Jesus as the Messiah back then was because people were putting their own preferences on the prophesied Messiah that scripture never mentioned. Before Jesus showed up then many scholars were looking for a suffering Messiah instead of the victorious political one Israel expected.
By the time Jesus showed up those scholars who had it right had been forgotten about. Is that happening now in this world, even with all the scholarly examination of scripture?
Are people now looking for the wrong Christ?

My confusion is in the way it was written. Having Jesus be lower than He is...

Understood...
...since it's not the real Jesus I'm writing about, the true One is where I should have Him in my life.

Right On Bro!
This is spot on terrific!
I saw this title the other day & thought: WHAT? and then got distracted. Thanks for the reminder. 'Christians', or so they call themselves are sure gonna be surprised when they see our Warrior King on His white stead coming with His angels and His saints to put down the nations warfare!
Your Title is great. Many treat The Christ like an amusement & a treat you could buy at a Carnival. Did you know there are even Churches where you can get Starbucks Coffee in the lobby?

The wolves in sheep clothing who are teaching of The Christ in this watered down version are going to have a lot to pay!
Well, we all reap what we sow!

I suppose that is where we need to be. I love this reference to how much the Lord is with us.
Thank you for this poem. The 'Cotton' is the part that is where God's burden becomes a lighter yoke.
The candy is the sweetness of our precious Lord.
Thank you so much

I think that what most of us see in God someone who speak the truth and let us do what ever we want. It like If we don't speak of who HE really is then we can't shakes peoples hearts and make them think. Everyone is so afraid to speak who Jesus really is because of what others think. So most of us stay quiet and the world is more chaotic. We need to stir things up at times and Speak Who HE really is. Sometimes it can changes others lives around for the better. I see it all the time they see how we act and what the peace we have or they ask us questions why we believe in Him and then it make them think that it might not want to continue tthe right path their on. Or others think they don't want to believe in HIm cuz then they will have change their ways and they're afraid of doing that.

There are a lot of people out there who have a false view of who Jesus is. This view is formed by their own selfish interests.
When one reads the Gospels it speaks of a Man who lived contrary to what was so natural for man. Then He tells us to resist what's natural in us.
I'm afraid many people will be tricked by the False Christ when he comes. He will speak to their selfish interests.
He will be the ultimate Humanist (666)!

Great job. Such a write depicting the world these days, the world is full of cotton candy christ. A great thought provoking wriote for sure.

Actually well-written, and a good read, although I'm sure I'm interpreting it differently than you meant, I find a lot of "cotton-candy christs" in the way TV preachers promise that "God wants you to be rich!" Or, if you don't believe exactly as I believe, then you are on your way to hell -- I don't think the Gospel says anything like that! There is so much mis-interpretation of the bible, some taken literally (in English, yet!) and so little actual scholarly examination; so little attention paid to the history of the bible, and how the actual books were chosen to be included, and why protestants and catholics have different versions... There is more to what your poem might mean than meets the eye...

Oh my goodness!
You are so right! It seems contrary to the nature of Jesus to put something in our path that would make us fall, especially those of us who struggle with greed and covetting.
The story of the Lord is a story of sacrifice. Then He tells us to do the same. The Bible challenges us that we would be blessed to give rather than receive.
There are many who cannot find their place in this world and are finding no contentment in having things.
It's because this world isn't where we're supposed to end up. Earth is our waystation.
Cotton candy is sweet and fun, yet lacks substance. I see that on the supposed Christian TV. It makes me feel weary and sad. I don't find it edifying at all!

BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN MY FRIEND WITH LOVE AND COMPASSION.
TRUE CONVICTION OF YOUR PATH, VERY HONORABLE
GOD BLESS YOU...

i forget , that in a time of such knowledge and ways to obtain truth , that there are still people like you in the world who follow blindly and without thought, an entity that is raised up above others, not by the word of some divine incarnation which could not exist except in the fear of those whos freedom is threatend by its word, but instead by the words and alterior motives of mankind and its individuals wish to control and own the hearts and minds of others.

I'm aware of views similar as yours. It's hard to see what we see. I was once thinking as yourself.
I'm brain-washed closed minded as well, Praise Jesus! He washed my brain with His blood and HIs Spirit, through His Word the Bible.
My mind is closed, much like a home that is closed to those who would seek to give those inside harm. It only opens to those that are welcome, even if they don't think or see as I do.
You're in my prayers, though I'm sure you'll tell me not to.
But then, there is no God. So you're safe.

Our God is no cotton candy God.
He is King of all Kings, and Lord of all Lords. He is our Redeemer and our Righteous Judge.
He is not only the Lamb of God, but He is the Lion of Judah.
Let us hear His mighty roar in these days.
This is a very powerful piece. I pray that many understand what it is you are saying here Bob.
Be blessed today and always.
