"Fly away with me," he sang
"Fly away where love grows wild
With trees and stars for a canopy
Where the wind sings of freedom
And the mountains sigh with peace.
Fly away to the babbling brook
And the thund'rous waterfall;
Fly to where water isn't lonely
Where earth is not tormented."
His heart sang to hers
A temptation worth a risk
To traverse the mountainsides
Sweetly alone together.
He left her alone to think
As the wild wind howled
Inside her lonely heart.
"Fly away with me," it sang
"Fly away to the rocky cliffs
Sandy beaches and roaring waves.
Fly away where the heart swims in peace
Where water's turbid cry
Is soothed by earth's caress;
Where dolphins ride regal
And seaweed graces tresses."
When the salt breeze blows inland
Her hair trembles, damp from tides
As her eyes of tempest-twisted jade
Shed a tear for him, her love,
Whose heart is far away,
Whose deep sea-blue orbs
Now gaze on mountain lakes.
"Fly away with me," she sang,
Her voice sailing to the trees,
"Fly away to where our lives are one.
Fly to where the seagulls call
And life is for the living;
Where my heart is yours
And yours is just divine.
Fly to where it's you and me
Forever side by side."
From far away, the lovers sighed.
"Fly away with me," they sang
"Just fly away with me;
Fly away."
