A heart losing beat,
frantic hand massages,
and fancy air pump,
" functions collapsing"-
echoing in mind,
attempts to wake him, invain.
Flat pulse,
meets tears cascade
till I am sent
out of emergency,
a life moved on
in front of my eyes,
conversation
of past midnight
becoming cherished memory.
Salty crystals
drown my soul,
as his wish turned true,
to die in my hands.

Seeing your life flash before your eyes in those last moments not being able to reach out to those we love and tell them we will be alright and always be with them. Wonderful and thought provoking write. Good luck in the contest I know you will do well. hugs Theresa
