Three Words, Two Hearts, One Love

They say that every thought you've had
Has been had by someone before,
Every word you've said as you lie in bed
Just praying for a little more.
I don't care if it's been said before
You are the ray of light in my life.
And every time I look into your eyes
I feel so alive.

And I would climb a million mountains
I would cross a thousand seas
If I knew that at the end
You would be waiting there for me
And when you're lost out in the darkness
I will be your guiding star
And if your legs refuse to hold you up
I'll be your strength to carry on.

And when the coldest chill of night
Shakes me to my very core
Just the thought of your smile
Is all I need to keep me warm
If ever you start to feel
Like the world has tossed you to the ground
Remember that as long as you'll have me
I will always be around

If anything that I've just said
Has brought a smile to your face
If anything that I've just said
Has helped you to erase
The lonely nights, the hundred miles
That have kept you far from me.
Then all that remains to be said
Is that I love you, Christine.

So when the coldest chill of night
Shakes me to my very core
Just the thought of your smile
Is all I need to keep me warm
If ever you start to feel
Like the world has tossed you to the ground
Remember that as long as you'll have me
I will always be around

Author notes

When I saw your contest I immediately thought of my girlfriend (soon to be fiancee hopefully), and being the musical type of person that I am I was inspired to write this in lyric form. I intend to have this finished and perform it for her (I'm a pianist and vocalist) before I "pop the question". I've got the tune running through my head I just need to get it down on paper, but I hope the lyrics are suitable enough to the contest and meet your expectations.

I definitely feel the flow for this. OK, it has to be said, it's been said innumerable times before (mountains, seas, warming hearts with smiles) and will be said innumerable times again, but you did it so eloquently. I really liked your title, it's what drew me in.

It'sa really nice way to propose good luck, both in the contest and in your relationship

I'm glad you picked up on the cliches because they were entirely intentional. As the first lines of the song say, it's all been said before, there are no original thoughts but that doesn't make them any less true.
