the flower and the bee

we lifted into trees,
hugs and subordinate clauses
drifting out one window and
into another: your private admiration
my attempted conclusion. and who
passed the tissues in midsummer
night's dream? who tilted their
very own pillow under my curly head?
who left copious amounts of scribbled
beloved gestures onto legal pad paper
into my locker?

we clung to brand new, shifting
out of molds. i whispered things
to the plastic window, you cried
at the prairie. sometimes it was
canada, but mostly it was northfield
and i wept for the heart i left behind.
we breathed in the moon; you
cut out of town and slept next to me
under rain. i inflicted metaphorical
cuts into my flesh and showed you
when i came in winter. the
summer brought us back.

we reach for peaches, stifling
the urge to gallop. i am magnetically
unsure of how my legs will move, you
have open arms and two dimples. who will
dig up grassroots with me? your place
or mine? who will kiss away the dewdrops
that spring from my eyes? when will the
forces collide, providing our deepest
desires with ample satisfaction? what,
love?

.you.

it was always you.

Author notes

a long distance relationship
makes you feel every dip, rock and hill in between the two of you.

quirky. like me, i suppose.

I love the breathing the moon and leaving town and rain. Ooooh goodness romanticcc<3.
& i loved the metaphoircal cuts. That was just genius and perfect and relatable and then just giving it that sharing, like showing those cuts? I don't know just very healing. The summer =] .
