[ Summer was over it was now time ]

Summer was over it was now time
To move outta my comfort zone,
Being with my friends 24/7 and
Always having someone to comfort me,
Time to enter the real world again
Where I was an annoyance,
Only there to cook and clean

Summer wasn't really over,
Just the only thing that
I could enjoy in the summer
That was over, no more walks
To classes too early in the morning
[That everyone complained about]
With people who you love so dearly

On the drive home I wonder
How much has changed in the
Six weeks I had been gone?
Would my friends still be there
Waiting to embrace and question me,
Then I wondered what if they have
Changed one hundred percent?

The thought of that made tears
Swell in my eyes..my eyes were
Slowly getting too filled and heavy
To support the continuously building tears,
Now it's too much tears frantically
Begin to stream down my face.

Now I'm home, my parents
Dropped me off and said goodbye
Told me they'd be back in a bit
I sat there in my room
It seemed so empty without
A roommate there to talk with
For the first time in six weeks
I felt completely alone, I had no one

The next couple of weeks pass by me
This is the day school is finally starting
I can't wait to go, to see how much I'm missed
I get there shocked as ever,
My 'best friend' won't talk to me
Won't explain to me what I did
She just tells me to back up

The weeks start going by, I miss
My summer, I miss my real friends
I miss my summer family I miss
Not being judged, finally I've had enough
For the first time since I started my summer
I rely on the relief of the blade

Author notes

I go to a summer program that lasts for six weeks and you only go home every other weekend. So you get to know the people you stay their with very well. Just as this poem describes the changes when you come home and try to transition back to the normal world. Where you aren't with your friends twenty four seven. That is second hardest part, right after actually leaving everyone..
