Before hitting the ground, eyes sewn shut.
It's blinding how one person can come along
Ripping the stitches from your safety,
Turning the world into a Hell you've never seen.
The whispers of her scent along the air
Waving and twisting like a Siren's sweet song.
I stand, going mad, and face the night.
Where I once confidently walked,
When I once found my solace and strength,
Strikes dread deep within my heart.
It's amazing to be taken in and protected
By the warmth of my greatest Nightmare,
Then to be left beneath the stars with
A broken mind and begging for another taste.
It's demonizing how clouded my thoughts become
When my name escapes her lips.
I believed myself to have been found,
With these pitiless twists of fate,
I know that I have truly gone astray.
It's demoralizing to know that I've lost it all;
To see what I had now that I've been awoken.
Yet, I find myself pining for those eyes,
To gaze upon me once again and shred my life apart.
Author notes
"What has she done to me?!"
Akheku brings his fist down onto his knee in frustration and looks up to the sky desperately for an answer. The stars remained chillingly silent as he brings his arms around his legs for warmth. She had taken everything from him and left him with nothing but fear, nothing but pain! His whole world was shattered that day he came across her in his travels... but he couldn't stay away. For some reason, neither could she. To be honest, he couldn't get enough for her and he looked forward to her 'interrupting' his life. Sighing, he hangs his head in shame.
"Layanna..."
------
The poem is obviously from Akheku's POV. A small look into what he's currently thinking... Poor guy, so confused. lol.
