Birthday Wishes for Bryce

Missing image

Dreams and castles in the air,
seen by wide eyes of wonder -
in early days of innocence,
mask a looming cloud of thunder.

The future holds many truths,
among many, one is this:
with time, all things vanish,
youth is fleeting in its bliss.

Hold onto dreams while you can,
make a wish and watch it rise;
with the smoke of melting candles,
a blooming, young life also flies.

You are a precious son and brother,

with generous love, you give and share;

and in your heart lives Mom and Matthew,

sheltered with your tender, loving care...

Now the time for your 20th birthday is here,

a celebration you've been waiting for all year;

and as this day threads its moments along,

long may you sing your Happy Birthday song!!

Note: There's a certain tried and true formula for birthday celebrations, which includes equal parts friends and merrymaking. It is a process that has been carried on for centuries, often referred to as a hootenanny, shindig, hoe-down, or party.

It is rumored that the ancient pharaohs celebrated the date of their birth by proclaiming themselves to be God, and then having statues of themselves made by legendary artisians.

The French have a long-standing history of marking the date of their birth with "bread duels." During this rather elaborate ceremony, the celebrator selects a victim from one of his or her numerous enemies , and the two then do battle with very thin, sharp baguettes, specially baked and tempered within one of France's many underground volcanoes. The duel can last several days, and has often strayed into neighboring countries, depending on the courage of the duelers.

We won't talk about what my Irish ancestor's birthday celebrations are known for... All I'm hoping for you is to have fun, eat, drink, game, open gifts, and paaaartay!!!!

    Just Fabulous

    Wow thank you this is just wonderful. So much wisdom in the poem you wrote here for my Bryce. I love the ryhme, rythem and flow to this poem. Thank you for encouraging him to enjoy his youth for it is fleeting. Yes his dreams are coming true but he will always have more dreams because that is life. Oh yes youth sure is fleeting. Thank you for reminding him that his mom and brother remain in his heart no matter where he goes. This poem means the world to me and I know Bryce will love it. Thank you for writing for my sons birthday. I shall print and treasure this poem always for my son and I if you don't mind. Best wishes in the contest.

    Wishing You Many Blessings
    Much Love

      I'm so glad you enjoyed the poem for Bryce...

      And I hope he will, too!! My thoughts on life generally go in the direction of the swiftness of time, and all the dreams we hold in our hearts... dreams for our future happiness and wholeness. Life as we know it is always a struggle, but I never understood this until I became an adult in the midst of my own struggles. Well, I wish your son the best always!! You may print the poem if you like, I am happy to share - although I'm not the best poet on the planet - LOL!! You are one of the best Mothers I know, and your heart is that of an angel on earth. Take care & keep smiling, Mom!! I wish you and Bryce many blessings, too!! Peace, love & hugs always, xx Cyn xx
