Fish Tanks and Revelations

i.
I etched the word 'love' into my heart yesterday,
Hoping that the scar would wash away your memories
leaving me a clean slate, to dirty up with anothers name.

ii.
I lost myself in the fish tank yesterday
watching the fish flock together before scattering,
scared by their own reflections

I held my hand against the lukewarm glass
praying that my consciessness would somehow
bleed into the water
And maybe I could become weightless,
forgetting who I am,
and who you were.

iii.
I turned my dusty calender upsidedown yesterday
shuffling the ripped pages to the lilac images of spring
attempting to reverse the hands of time

hoping that, somehow, I could twist the hands of fate

iv.
You once told me some words were unbreakable,
hope,family,love
But I washed the watercolors out of my eyes yesterday

you lied to me
Like all things,
Love Dies.
