I walked in the darkness,
embraced by October's
lonely carress...
So cold, her kiss
as death falls
from trees,
twirling, swirling,
indifferent to my
presence.
This beating heart,
that bares my soul
quickens,
forcing crimson flow
through tired limbs
in a cacophony of life,
forever waking,
shaking,
quaking
in silence,
alone,
waiting for this life to begin....

Stunning. A beautiful write, the imagery was amazing, and I loved the personification of the season. It appeals to all senses, and is easy to imagine with the stunning detail you paint with words. The flow is wonderfully smooth, as always.
It is so soft and gentle to read, despite being of a slightly dark nature, and this combination makes it all the more beautiful.

I like this it talks about love and how it can be so cold like the fall that night winds numb the arms and legs these are my images numb arms that can't reach for the love we want and desperatly need, Numb legs we can't run from someone we love but yet we know our love is a toxin that will poision both of us if one of us don't run away." October as the lonesome lover who quickens one's blood despite her indifference. I so like this image of her as perhaps a wizened crone with a ring of dried leaves on her head; it gives me the feeling of her casting you out into the cold.

awesome... i could get a real feel for the trees here.... well maybe thats just me,but i felt like a tree shedding my leaves only to be reborn if you will in a new life in a snow filled wasteland... ok maybe thats really out there but i have a vivid imagination, and Fritz you always set it on fire for me so i just run with it. another great write, good luck with the contest!

Another great one from you. I really enjoyed this, the pictures that you paint. Although October is my favorite month, it is bittersweet because it is the prelude to Nov and Dec, which kill me. Death falling from trees reminds me of the cold and barren months to come. Well done!
