The firefly took upon its wing,
Occulting, blinking, pondering,
“If sun would stay gone that might bring
a chance for me to be the king!”
“The only light would then be mine,
If sun is gone the moon won’t shine.
Then as the brightest entity
I’d rule for all eternity.”
But Zeus upon Olympus high
Would hear the little firefly,
Amuse himself and have some fun.
He called to Helios, the sun.
“I heard a prayer that asked, my friend,
For constant night that doesn’t end.
I thought I’d grant the wish he seeks
Could you rest for a couple weeks?”
Well, Helios thought that was niceNobody had to ask him twice.
He packed his things and left that day
To take a fortnight holiday.
Then Zeus blew an enormous cloud
To cover Earth, a giant shroud.
The sun and moon both gave no light
And now there were no stars at night.
The firefly was extremely thrilled
His fondest wish had been fulfilled.
For several days he felt delight
As he was shining best and bright.
Then as the first week came and went
The firefly felt different.
He dimmed and did not seem so bold
As things were getting very cold.
It got so cold his light would fail
He tried to blink to no avail.
The world was now completely dark.
It seems his wish had missed its mark.
“Oh, how could I be such a fool
To think my little light could rule?
I now unwish, because I see
It was just how it ought to be.”
Come morning Helios once more,
Just back from the Hawaii shore,
Drove chariot across the sky
And warmed the little firefly.
He waited, then in dark of night
He shone his small light very bright.
He knew what he was meant to be
And went about it gratefully.
Zeus chuckled to himself quite smugAnd watched the little lightning bug.
The world was acting as it should
And one more creature understood.
Author notes
4- Write something funny. Simple, I need cheering up these days.
I love how those that are quite dim are the ones who are most convinced they know how things should be. Since they don't have the awareness of how things really are, they believe they could do better! All the arguing and all the facts in the world will not change their minds. They have Lilliputian Brilliance, a divine quality until it kills you.

Brilliant! We should all know our place in the scheme of things..

Truly amazing such words never moved across me mind as yers just did a chara. Truly such a story that weaved itself into the mind of the reader and brought about such intriguing thoughts, beautiful. And the Mythology that was blended in was the right touch.. beautifully crafted a chara.

I loved the story, awesome, fun read, great rhyme, good pondering too...from the AN...
There is not a one of us on this lowly planet that has a light bright enough to know all,
We can only suppose, think, and most of all...BELIEVE...what we personally believe to be true.
This was a fantastic story.
Bell,

The only true and absolute knowledge we can have is that we wouldn't recognize absolute truth if it bit us on the ass. It is a default position, and the only truth we can count on. Anyone who believes thay have any other absolute truth has given up the only real one available to them for a lie. Technically, it is simply Godel's theorem in action: All man-made systems of thought are incomplete and flawed. The moment we stop relying upon our own ability to reason and accept what was given to us at birth, we are no longer using man-made systems of thought. Who knows if Godel's theorem applies there?

Absolutely...HA!
and, of course, that also would include Godel's theorem...YES? -
-
No. It is Godel's theorem.
