October is the color of yellow
Yellow squash adorn roadside stands
pears and canned waxed beans.
Yellow Maple leaves hint of Autumn
October is the color of orange
Orange pumpkins carved as jack o’ lanterns
decorate porches
Orange Maple leaves tinged crimson
October is the color of red
Red juicy apples by the bushel
for pie, crisp and sauce
Red Maple leaves cling to branches
October’s vivid colors soon will fall
swirling in the cold breeze of November
which has no color at all
but brown bare limbs of the Maple tree

Ah...you fill the air with the feeling and scents of the fall. I really like the chill that is inherent in this piece -- or maybe it's just the image of the bare trees and brown, bare limbs... Nice job.

Nice job of picking up on the chill, the last stanz is in reference to my best friends passing which is my own chill and the chill in the air. I've had to put the furance on. Enough of my ramblings, thanks for the wonderful comment.

AH, SO GOES THE FALL!!!!!
It is amazing how much color in one month and the very next one nothing but brown and drab.

I like this tri-colored take on the maple - which is the tree nearest and dearest to me.
She does look pretty bedecked by December's snows but nothing like her brilliant October reds, orange & yellows!
Thank you for this leaf peeper poem - I like the way you start each stanza especially.
