Vote

Time for all to take a stand
and open up our eyes,
listen to the call for change
it's what this nation cries.

Don't vote Obama because he's black
McCain because he's white,
search your heart deep within
and vote for what is right.

This country's been divided
by race for far too long,
time to stand in unity
Twas Martin Luther's song.

The spirit of division
is Satan's greatest plight,
he knows a nation not united
is sure to lose the fight.

America is a battle field
but in the realm of spirit,
right and wrong good and bad
with great reason we should fear it.

Before you cast your ballots
know choices open doors,
let your spirit be the guide
to settle up the score.

Time for Satan's reign to end
the poverty and lack,
reversed roles of good and evil
rise up and take our country back.

May this nation become worthy
for God to shine his face,
and once again become restored
to his mercy, love and grace.

TIME FOR CHANGE...GET OUT AND VOTE!!!

Author notes

AMERICA NEEDS CHANGE, BUT THE RIGHT KIND OF CHANGE! CHANGE THAT BRINGS GOD"S PRESENCE AND PROTECTION BACK TO OUR LAND!! THE WRONG CHANGE WILL REMOVE HIS VERY PRESENCE AND BRING MORE CHAOS AND HUMAN SUFFERING!!! WHATEVER YOUR CHOICE, BE SURE TO PRAY AND VOTE WITH A CLEAR CONSCIENCE FOR THE CANDIDATE OF YOUR CHOICE...LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!!!!

How I wish I had read this earlier I was so frustrated and felt like the only Conservative on here. You are amazing with God lighting your path.
I am glad you do not see color as I do not either.

    WOW

I don't know how I missed this. This is excellent and very true; but until the Christian people get off their sleeping duff's and take a stand - evil is going to win. People wake up and smell the coffee that has been burning for over 30 years. Take a stand for God and take back this wonderful land. Melody

Thank you Toni for leaving a comment on Artis's Obituary of Bush, etc. You mentioned in your comment Misty Melody's poem Death of a Nation, so I was able to spread "the good word" at both sites.

Up until 2006 things were honking along pretty well in America. The Dow was perking along at or near 14,000 points; unemployment was as low as it could go considering SOME amount of people are always in transition; banks were flush (on paper though Democrats (Raines, et al) were hiding the true desperate situation); gas was high, but not $4.00/gal.; and the war in Iraq WAS BEING WON!!!

To listen to these liberal moaners you'd think we were shuffling from gulag to gulag behind the Iron Curtain or something.

Anyway, 2006 came along and the teeth behind meaningful Congressional conservative opposition to the Dems disappeared. As the months droned on this became known as the "Do Nothing" Congress. When the Libs did do something like using political pressure to punish an ordinary American (ie. Harry Reid abusing his power through a letter he sent to Clear Channel Broadcasting to punish Rush Limbaugh) Rush turned around and auctioned the letter off for MILLIONS of dollars which he donated to charity!

Time and again, the Do Nothing congress tried to legislate and either Bush outmanuvered them or the American people put them in their place.

Soon Chuck Schumer (D-NY) causes a run on Indy Mac and the people who hold power over the purse strings are clueless how to proceed. Gas all the while is creeping up to $4.35 (in some states $5.00) a gallon. THANK YOU DEMOCRATS FOR FISCAL MESS!!!

And now? Our solution? ELECT MORE DEMOCRATS!

Michigan: Dem governor, Dem Senators, state houses Dem......needs bailout for auto industry.

New York: Dems everwhere... needs bailout

New Jersey: Dems everywhere... needs bailout

Kalifornia: Repub gov who legislates like a Dem.... needs a freakin' bailout!

And now we have the Socialist Elect who's going to lower the ocean levels, heal our broken souls, lower our carbon footprint, bring joyous new tax burdens to the upper class, erect statues of Marx and Engels in every public square, and lead us into the cradle-to-grave promised land deep, deep in the balmy bosom of governmental beneficence.

I can't wait for my first check to arrive.

    Bravo!

A heartfelt call to action in
a time when it's needy most.
We definately need change in this
country. It starts within each one of us.
Politicians can't be blamed for all our ill's.
God gave us the power of choice and it's
time for us to take a stand and be accountable.
To God. Country and our children.
They are the real losers if we fail
because they are the future. Great write

i like the imagery, content, noble message
    i don't get
'Time for Satan's reign to end"
are you implying bush is satan
i'm a "walk in my shoes" type of guy
like, being president is not easy
a few other negative metaphors did not fit
    so
    it's america
land of the free, home of the brave for me
    overall, a superb verse

    The spirit of division
    is Satan's greatest plight,

the wording of these two lines make it sound like division is a problem Satan has to deal with, although I know you mean it's a problem Satan causes.

    May this nation become worthy
for God to shine his face,

The wording sounds awkward, and the second line sounds as if you're trying too hard to make it rhyme. "for God to shine his face upon" would be more correct, although I know that doesn't rhyme.

Otherwise, overall it's a very good poem. It flows very well and for the most part the rhyming is natural and easy. Everything you say is right, can't argue there. Love it.

This is a really important message and you've expressed it extremely well. At one time during the primaries I was working on lyrics in this ilk (though Hillary was also involved at that time so one of the lines was "I won't vote on the president by which bathroom she uses." )
Really important message, and as said earlier, well expressed.

Very nice poetry, though I disagree with the premise that division is automatically bad. How do you select the best solution if there are no differing opinions? Diversity is lauded everywhere these days. In fact, it's the one-sidedness of the media that is negligence bordering on criminal.

This was really great! I've enjoyed reading all the election day themed poetry, it's nice to hear people writing about the problems in the world around us. I live in North Carolina and we have early voting, so I voted earlier this week. Thanks for getting out this great message. I enjoy the title- simple and to the point. Your first stanza is also particularly strong:
Time for all to take a stand
    and open up our eyes,
listen to the call for change
    it's what this nation cries.
This is a great call for people not to be complacent about the world around them and do their part. Great write, Thanks for sharing!

    Good One Toni

It is clear that your nation needs a correcting - it is to divided at this stage - so divided that I have heard folks talk of revolution - you need checks and balances in the financial realm for sure - and you need health care for all - bring the troops home as well - very nice poem Toni - Bless God - Joe

Yes change is needed but change can bring anything. So it must be defined. sadly it has not. And if it is to be so God may be left out of thee equation. well done poet.
