Falling

October fun and festivities,
Crimson, gold leaves dot the leas.
Childhood laughter upon the piles,
colorful leaves bring endless smiles.

How soon we forget as memory fades,
out of the blue, thoughts of you invade.
Our eyes first met in the autumn haze,
stood there lost within a lover's gaze.

We knew that moment what had begun,
leaves fell around us neath the fall sun.
The air crisp, put my arm around you,
falling more and more in love with you.

Rustling sound hid my heart beating fast,
how I wanted this day with you to last.
A lifetime of love began with a glance,
on brisk autumn day we met by chance.

October, a month of pumpkins and frost,
branches turn bare and beauty is lost.
My vision of you overshadows the gray,
when I think back to that October day.

My favourite time of year. I love Keats poem. Autumn always seems to hold more promise than spring. It's a time for closeness. You capture the sense of promise it holds very well.

I agree that Fall is the time to fall in love. A nice reminiscence here of bright, crisp days and the warmth that can be generated by an Indian Summer, and outlast many a season to come.

This is a pleasure to read! I see so much image and happiness in this poem. It makes me think of kids running through fallen leaves with big smiles on their faces.

    I love this.

Not only the different sides of October, but the different sides of love. You have succeeded in repeating both the thoughts of here and the then, the day unusual and usually, while allowing the reading to enter the past and the present. Frans
