surprise me
show me that love
that life
isn't just a slow dance
that ends with a bow
a candle flickering
until you blow it out
while i am lying here
naked as a branch
in the midst of winter
when you come
deflower my mind
take away my inhibitions
that laugh at me
searing me
straight to my bones
but sing to me
a symphony of kisses
of hand holding
and stolen glances
that fill my ears
my eyes, my senses
and make me unafraid
to love you again
and if you don't
end this chapter
don't force this out
like the brilliance of a sunset
just close your thoughts
and walk away
because it wouldn't be a surprise
if this is the last time you see me.
