Suckling on the nectar of the gifts of Aphrodite
Here on the kisses of beauty, ripened by the sun
I look at the twinkling gifts laid before me
Warming my wings to the cause of none.
My appearance causes many to stop and to stare
Smiling at the display given to them, though be it brief
I let the light shine through my feathers like stained glass
For some reason my outside does not reflect my grief
I am one of the most beautiful of all, many wanting my grace
Perched on a petal of hopeful flowers, showing no fears
I still wonder at them all, unto God and above
Incomprehensible, they gape in awe, not knowing my tears.

This is well-crafted, and a great metaphor for relationships, where the reality inside is not seen nor acknowledged. Your images are so bright, and yet deep with a little darkness at the same time. An excellent write.

This is an amazing poem! I loved the imagery and the words that you used in this. I also really liked how you used the rhyme because it was subtle, and flowed really well. I can't say that I have a favourite stanza because I like all of them. Anyways, awesome job with this, well worth reading!
