Corroded Earth gave way, to the menacing teeth of the machine
1 Foot Closer
Ominous portrayal of the eternal bed, waited eagerly
2 Feet Closer
Morning dew slithered off God’s lawn, onto polished soles
3 Feet Closer
Six figures loom in the back, ready to bear the burden of death
4 Feet Closer
Snuffed headlights of the horseless carriages, flow simultaneously
5 Feet Closer
Crumpled tissues litter resting places, spotting like white blooms
6 Feet Under
Future tunnels dwell in the squirming worms, embracing the new arrival

AM I CONFUSED?
at first I did'nt know what to think, but then, I realised this is a poem about death... the burial of a dead person, and the thoughts passing through the grave digger's mind.... or is it my own mind?
From digging the grave, to thoughts of final rest, to procession to the grave side, to those carrying the coffin, then the mourners, and finally silence, where the body is left to the worms....
I love this piece.

aweeesome.
i see...
the undertakers with their machine, digging up the hole. i see the casket at the funeral, the people outside while it's raining, the pallbearers, the cars heading over to the hole, the tissues left by the mourners and the worms all happy about the newcomer.
