Child's Perspective

As a child enjoy the sound
of Mother Nature all around,
kick your way through Autumn leaves
a russet carpet laid by trees.

Fly a kite on breezy days
sunlight shafts through misty haze,
Jack Frost nipping at your toes
reddened cheeks with rosy glows.

A playground free for all to share
enjoy while young, without a care.

Absolutely marvellous! The form and flow of this is perfect and I adore it. This is the way Autumn should be; with this sort of peace and serentiy surrounding. I love this!

    OMG that little boy...

My oldest looked like that, with blue eyes!
We are unseasonably cold and its bringing out burgundy in our sweet gums (Liquidambar). I cut sumac for the reds, wax myrtle for greens and a spicey scent with gray berries, black eyed susans (!) for gold. A hand full of liatris for a purple core. It was an arrangement for the table that rivalled the professional florists.

Oh. This is a really cool poem that you have penned in here. I loved loved loved the border! That is just so cute. Is that one of your own pictures? I wish I could do one of my cousins. And it was just perfect for your poem that had the same kind of happy and light feelings. Thanks for such a great fall poem to read. You did a good job of expressing yourself here.

Do you still kick through the leaves too Sis? This is a lovely pen and captures a little of the rebel that surges through me when the trees start to drop their colour.

Short and lively, wonderful rhyme and rhythm. An excellent response for the contest. I enjoyed reading this, especially looking out my back windows at a similar picture!

I can tell from your recent work how much you love autumn. It is a great season. The leave have long since fallen off trees here. It is now the Season of Barenaked Trees and Frozen Mud. Snow will come soon.

Great pic to illustrate the poem.
