Fell Fruits & Sadistic Seeds

Fruits fell, bursting on the rocks,
torn globules multiplying,
spreading like a delicious panic,
a succulent, sweetened flavour,
hiding an underlying acidic loathing.

Blackbirds devoured the baleful seeds,
carrying them far from fertile hope,
at last, they were cast aside,
buried into barren earth,
awaiting sickly rain to provide malnourishment.

Tarnished tears fell to the soiled ground,
veiling an arctic drab sun,
without the frown of colourless rainbows,
the seeds thrust forward their anger,
growing enthusiastically towards spite.

Tearing clear of closeted mockery,
the seeds threw twigs and twisted limbs
high into the belittling sky,
to fight and win a furious war
against the whispers and lies upon the wind.

As inglorious day drew to an end,
without positivity or a victory won,
the trees had their one and only thought:
‘I cannot gain victory until I destroy myself’.
As light faded, fruits fell, bursting on the rocks.

Day: Saturday Prompt: Quote - 6. There is no enemy without if there is no ememy within.

This piece is very much about the enemy within that we often struggle with.....self-hatred.
