1.
you got on
the bus today.
just two more days.
I still feel like
a pacing circus cat.
2.
the hours between us
stretch and yawn mockingly,
as if to remind me
that even illusions
can bite.
3.
unity
is everything.
the illusion is real,
but reality isn't.
4.
frustrated
by a continuing shortage
of bio-survival tickets.
5.
now begins the
making
of plans.
I am getting excited.
6.
nitrous oxide
and dragon seeds:
four root canals.
7.
you've never
done this before.
the universe
is in our mouths
on blotter paper.
8.
driving our friend home
in the rain:
his cacti
didn't drown.
9.
more rain,
and the wind is
picking up.
it's finally
my season again.

Wow!!! How am I supposed to judge a contest with so many wonderful entries?? I love this! The snippets really capture an episode each and they do so very well. Overall, they do form a concentrated poem, too. I like how this has it all, from awesome imagery to clever word play (like bio-survival tickets - man, that's the subtlest sad image I've ever come across) to just saying it like it is. Awesome. Thank you for your entry.

I sadly cannot claim credit for originating the phrase "bio-survival tickets". That one in particular, as far as I know, is a Robert Anton Wilson-ism. The rest is mine.
