MAY I GIVE YOU A HAND?

i tripped over your fingers the other day
while walking down the beach on my
annual year long never ending beach party

i tried to give you a hand up but one of your
fingers just came off in my grasp clear down
to your big knuckle

your right hand ring finger i believe it was

so i went over to eds tackle shop and
bought some tape and super glue and on
impulse a lime green plastic ring because
it matched my eyes and i thought it
would look good on your hand

back on the beach i carefully put the
ring on your finger and glued and
taped it back in place and it looked fine
when i was done

i looked around for a guitar to place
by your hand but i couldnt find one and
i didnt want to leave you mine because
i was going to compose a song for you
after i got drunk later on that night

but i gave you a hand then
the applause sounded deafening on
the near deserted beach

i pulled off my goatskin and had a
drink of wine to you and then poured some
over your hand and we said cheerio

i have to go now sorry
the fickle fingers of fate seem to have
dealt you a very bad hand

one you cant draw to or with go finger
