You don't often see Haiku's as thoughtful as this, more often than not they are lighthearted, playful, so the thought invested in this one gives it a refreshing power.
Good write.

I'm not sure if you meant "a" prayer or "and" prayer in this one; but either way the poem works and is absolutely grand. I love the profound thought behind it. Well done

Thank You.
I have always found that prayers are spoken in times we see and know death is close, and as I looked out my window when writing this I saw three leaves still clinging to a tree, thinking to myself how our prayers to remain will in the end go unanswered....
so yes, imho, I think it should be "and prayer unanswered", or "and prayers unanswered", but either way, I am both happy you enjoyed it, and *saw*, what I was trying to convey...

this really leaves you wanting more
like maybe an answered prayer for instance
nicely succinct

This is so simple.
And yet, in these few words you've said so much.
Beautiful!
Good luck in the contest!
