Inside this flesh of mine
rests a feline:
meek and tame,
lacking the roar of the wild.
A presence from the shadows
is forced into the sun,
follies become clear
and the rays reveal the
hunter.
However did you wake the beast
with those meat stained hands?
Luck be to you,
the best of me is reserved
for worthy pride.

Author notes
This poem was partly inspired by the song, "Haunted" by Evanescence. It is about someone trying to get the best of you and not giving in.
beast and best in this poem are meant to be the same thing. Also pride is meant to mean a person pride and the pride like in a pride of lions.

Double meanings... I use them often, sometimes triple. You did very well expressing your thoughts and your take on the prompt. For me, the explanation in your notes was not needed... the feeling is clear.
Thank you for entering my contest.
