The upcoming dark days give us time to reflect
upon those rich seasons past and those yet to be.
It’s in meditation that we can better see
the wisdom of Samhain and to show it respect.
The sheer curtain that divides us from the spirits
becomes translucent enough for mortals to sense,
welcome, acknowledge, revere, and fear their presence,
think of the lives they led and keep their candles lit.
Fasting brings about clarity and purity.
Some may don disguises to ward off all evil,
but the prayers were meant to prevent upheaval.
Spells were cast to end hunger, bring serenity.
In celebration of the beginning darkness,
collect your thoughts as you collected your harvest.

Very well done, it brings alot into focus as to
the meanings behind some tradition. The ending
line was wonderful. Giving this write that added
impact of contemplation. I agree, this is the one
time of the year to gain solitude and with it, a
certain perspective of self and surroundings.
