When I saw fellow poet's goodbye
I thought, "aren't diamonds forever?"
We have never even said "Hi"
Beyond this poetic endeavor
Blotting the tears off of my cheeks
Thinking how love can tiptoe by
Unseen unless another peeks
To hug with a shared parting sigh
Fingers skipping across keyboard
Reaching out before out of reach
"Wait up!" fingers yell across board
"Stop, please, and let's walk along beach."
"Aren't the sand and the surf pretty?
Where are you off to when you leave?
Such little time it's a pity..."
Our hands slide down each other's sleeve
Turning to follow future's lead
Meeting for a moment in time
Planting a seed like a good deed
Looking for reason with a rhyme
Where does one begin with the end?
Where does one step in then step out?
When there's not much time to befriend
For this seed we've planted to sprout...
Thoughts rush by trying to make sense
Beginnings and endings collide
Words fading away from intense
Dropping pain inside heart to reside
"Come back!" that many poets cried
Echoes ashore on ocean surf's tide
Author notes
I chose this title for poem because of seeing that a fellow poet, bidding us all goodbye, had earned the title of "I'm a diamond love poet for 198 comments" from commenting on fellow poets work.
Please tell me what you think

hmmm. This is a beautiful poem. so very thoughtful. Really makes me sit and ponder about how so many relationships can be fleeting because of our fast paced, constantly moving world where people seldom stay stil long enough to get to really know one another.I especally loved the first verse.
A wonderful write.
Thanks for entering and good luck. -

Hi mrme
Thank you for the comment. I hope things are going well for you today. Things are mostly well here in Dallas, Texas... I love when a contest inspires me to write a poem yet sorry to hear you are leaving.
I'm certain many hope you will reconsider, including myself. People leaving are like leaves falling off a tree and greatly missed and noticed when leave. However, people don't always return when the Spring returns with trees wearing brand new duds aka buds. To me, whereas new buds are nice there lingers a certain sadness for the old buds once there that lasts beyond winter. God be with you in all your comings and goings and in-betweens that, hopefully, lead you to happiness somewhere. Remember, "Where ever you go... there you are."

I like this
especially "Beginnings and endings collide".
You have written many good thoughts here. So many people passing by, and when they leave, all we can do is wave goodbye. I like the rhymes, and enjoyed reading. Best of luck!
