I try to get a grip on something,
Anything that will hold me up.
It’s as if the pit is bottomless,
My body continues its endless fall.
All he had to do was say those words,
That he knew would cut so deep.
All he had to do was say those words,
That he knew would cut so deep.
Those words he said, its too late to take them back.
They’ve run their course and destroyed my heart.
My heart, My heart, it continues to sink,
Falling so fast, like a bird of prey.
Perhaps there is a way out,
Of this never ending well.
Far ahead an angel appears,
Shining like the stars on a cloudless night.
He beckons to me and I continue to fall,
Until it is too late, I see his face.
His dark, evil face, complete with a smile,
that smile, it could only be his.
The one I fear, the one I hate,
The one who said those words.

it started with a great title. it was very visual and reflective.
the [bird of prey] metaphor was effective, and i've never heard it used before.
(dark, evil face, complete with a smile) show great transformation, but none for the better.
good poem. -
