Whether you choose to be the same,
Whether you choose to leave me,
Whether you choose to stay...
I want you to be happy.
I know you feel different,
I know you want to be you.
You don't know who 'You' is,
So you don't know what to do.
Take a chance to be free.
You follow someone else's guide,
You follow what they say.
You feel the restriction of their rules,
You want to play a different game.
Will you come with me???
You decide to fly
You want to touch the sky...
Together we could have faced the world,
I would have been a happier girl!
Now I know where to find you,
A visit is due...
But You never Defied Gravity.
No, You never Defied Gravity......
Author notes
Inspired by Defying Gravity, a song in Wicked: The Musical.
I've never seen said show, but this song is amazing.
I tried to write this poem in some kind of song format...
(Yet, I know I'll never compare to the original!)

nicely done, I can see how it was inspired by it. And here I was starting to think no one else listened to the songs of wicked...

Hm, nice and touching, different from all the other poems I've read so far. Usually they beg their boyfriends to not leave them, but you don't really care, as long as he's happy. Now that's a touching girlfriend. I like the image of you flying together. But what do you mean by the title 'Defying Gravity'? Does it mean he never comes down to reality? I'm sure you showed it clearly, it's just that sometimes I'm a bit slow, so don't get offended. =P
I also liked the paragraph where you said be you, but he doesn't know what you is, so it's like he has no choice or something. But this is nice and different. Great rhyming too! =)
Good luck in the contest! =D -
Ooh, I really enjoyed reading this one [even though Master of the House is on my headphones currently; totally different musical]

But, as the person below me said, I feel like you really captured Elphaba in this one; Wicked is one of my favourite musicals, and, as the song suggests, Elphaba has gone through much of her life never knowing where she's going, or what she's doing with her life - until a chance encounter leads her to 'defy' gravity.
[and hey what a coincidence, "No One Mourns The Wicked" just came on my ipod - opening song from Wicked!]
Anyway, yes, as I said, this was really well written, and I think without even the title, people who know Wicked would know instantly where the inspiration came from for it - great job on it, and thanks so much for entering it, I really enjoyed reading it

This is a beautiful poem and a great take on the prompt, you really captured the essence of Elphaba in this poem, good luck

I was actually lucky enough ot see this musical on Broadway. I lvoe the way you showed Wicked in this. I could see ALphadora saying this when she is telling Glinda wiht a G her plan to escape. Great job.
