Looking for Waldens Pond

An urban dwelling culture with little room for chance
dreams of Weeping Willow trees and yards with picket fences.
The ones who spend their childhood in search of Waldens Pond
find themselves instead entrapped behind a wall of stone.

The way it's meant to be...

Laying in the dimness of an early mornings light
as moonbeams do their final dance on window sills in flight.
Eastbound on their journey to greet the rising sun
then disappear beyond the peaks 'til night returns again.

In the fast dissolving darkness a distant rooster crows
and birds join in the sing along as other creatures stir.
When shaving later on sipping coffee feeling free
in the hush that early morning brings the way it's meant to be.

It's the pleasures from within that seem to satisfy
the ones that fill our hearts and souls serenity and joy.
After years of chasing dreams the best of what I've found;

is a good dog that comes when you call,
a cold beer
and a quiet spot to fish.

Though life can be a drag while it's doggin' you around
with fantasies and factions at work to bring you down.
Past the edge of town where it narrows in the trees
there's a haven in the wilderness that waits for all to see.

Beside a stand of lonesome pines sleeping in the wind
a place to have a smoke and howdy with a friend.
And know the peaceful feeling that easy livin' brings
when evening shadows fall and the lowly cricket sings.

    I love this..
It had a Mayberry feel to it.
We make our lives so unnecessarily complicated.

....the peaceful feeling that living brings....

I wanted to roll this poem in some rolling papers and inhale.
    It is peace,
    it is what God wants...
    a simple life
    taking from the earth,
    respecting all it's creation
    and our fellow man...
    to come..
to join the writer in what is truly real ..
    You created the ultimate atmosphere,
a place where good men can exist in days of good cheer and contentment.

    Bless you poet,
    LOWELL POE

David, have you got my river over there? Its about 700 yards from the sheds and you have described it beautifully.
I have seen mine, can I join you at your place? reading your poem makes me want to be there with you , share a beer and have a quiet yarn with the dogs just laying around.
