Of Heart.

Come forth My Prince, words whispered soft
By paled moonlight, from shadowed loft
'Pon winds they rose, an overture
Brought to crescendo, by spoken verse.

They soared by valley, awaking dreams
Poured forth from clouds, as silver stream
They danced as Angels, are 'oft to do
As Yalera waited, that one heart true.

And by where earth, met sea the sound
Amera's words, to warrior found
What then this Image?, before mine eyes
Vessel of beauty, as star filled sky.

He closed his eyes, and saw her stood
'Neath pale moonlight, through shadowed hood
Said "Dearest Maiden, I hear thy call,
And swear mine life, that shadows fall".

'Pon stallion warrior, gripping reigns
Set loose through valley, dust filled plains
No thirst upon him, for a passion welled
As Thunder rose from hoof-beats felled.

Through marsh and thicket, overgrown
This warrior fought, and tho flesh was torn
He held her Image, and knew no pain
For Elfish Princess, he would transverse flame.

As fourth day past, in distance broke
To warrior's eyes, loft words were spoke
A silhouette, of carved moonlight
That shed such beauty, it felled the night.

Yalera stood, her hands gripped ledge
Awaiting now, this warrior's pledge
He strode forth with grace, and drift to knee
Laid down his sword, and said to thee...

"My Princess, I've no rose to bare
No jewels to offer, no silk spun fair
No kingdom of glory, no heart writ song
I've but my Honor, my Word my Bond".

"I'll not hold your love, but here to breast
Nor seek a treasure, beyond your breath
Your call I've heard, and traveled far
But what is distance?, when seeking star"

So Princess came, from shadowed loft
And bid him rise, with words spoke soft
And so this warrior rose to stand
Of no great birth, just outstretched hand.

Yalera smiled, for she knew his soul
And saw his spirit, etched by gold
Beneath the Willow, they gave their hearts
And from that day, have never part.

Oh my! You have done your homework! You found my soft spot for elfish stories and old language. You then composed this fantastic tale in wonderful rhyme and meter. Thank you so much for entering my contest and putting so much hard work and thought into this brilliant piece. I love it!

    Love,
    Amera♥

      Thank You.

I enjoyed going through your poetry, you have quite a beautiful collection there. I was taken by the exceptional quality of your sonnets, but found the extensive collection of "fantasy", writes more than alluring.

I am happy you enjoyed this, it was fun writing it, as I have always been a fan of the Romantic Movement, as well as fantasy writes, but the one picture over the poem, "Who's is Amera?" was the inspiration for this. I thought about using the name Amera throughout but thought I'd change it to Yalera....love that name, both really.
