Memories list in fractured form
footholds from the edge, remnants
of private wars and deepened scars
I would condense, past sight or pride.
Vindication, from pale eyes and the way
love took my heart, seething
would I be reformed?, from the jagged edges
of a slipstream that gathered, my fear.
I am hands now, outstretched and freed from
the clenching shadow that swallowed all sight
to be found, made whole from ashes
as the phoenix, re-born.
Yet still, I would hold the gray clouds flexed
and keep my solemn vigil, by windows
that once I traced my path, now
I trace a name renewed, and know
I am alive.

Wonderful take on the prompt.
I am hands now, outstretched and freed from
the clenching shadow that swallowed all sight
to be found, made whole from ashes
as the phoenix, re-born.
Enjoyed that stanza a lot! Thanks so much for entering my contest. I’m honored to have you show your work here.
