Nobody Misses You But Me

You told me you'd be here forever...
But you're gone, aren't you?
You think I'm sad?
No, try devastated, distressed, disgusted.
You said you wouldn't do it, yet you did.
You said you'd always be with me, yet you aren't.
And you expect me to only feel tears?
I gave you my heart and when you died, you took it with you,
Leaving me dead and angry that I let you kill me.
I thought you were my one true love,
But when the cops showed up with the news
And I bawled my eyes out
I realized what a mistake I had made.
I know I'm suppose to be thanking you,
Saying what a great man you were,
But how can I do that when all you ever did was hurt me?
Tell me, I want to know.
How come whenever love becomes part of my life
it ends up leaving me bruised and broken?
I'll tell you why, because I let it.
But not anymore.
I  can thank you for that,
Thank you for teaching me that love should not be found.
I would be sorry for everyone elses loss, but the fact is,
Nobody is here.
Nobody misses you, how does that feel?
No...
Nobody misses you but me.

    Very well written

I have heard these very words from many over the years and I wonder when men continue to do these things one day they may find themselves left with only buddies for they treat their buddies with more respect . Make one wonder if men ever cared about anything but themselves . They may find out one day I hope its not too late . There are many men who knows what a gentleman truly is and how to love a woman those few men are truly happy the others should take lessons from them and maybe then the women wouldnt feel the way they do

I like it ... there is a very dark ironic, sarcastic stream through this whole poem that I like and it gains in velocity and feels at about mid point like it is scraping against walls and along rocks, not low to the ground, like in mourning but more like kicking stones and cans ... you last five lines are great... the last line is so ironic, it is almost humorous, but it isn't

    good work

thank you for entering this contest with this fine poem
