Spirits of the Night

On this sanctified Samhain night Hearken,
Since the time of the Ancients we celebrate,
We welcome the Dead for a visit.
Spirits of the night Lords of the darkness,
One hallowed night, all remember you.
Hearken spirits who walk this night.

Love inherits this night when,
The veil between worlds is at its thinnest.
Celebrate the dance of life,
To death to new life,
The balance of the cosmos in my life,
From death comes Life the circle turns.

Welcome spirits who have gone before,
Others who pass between two worlds.
The last harvest is gathered and stored.
Hail to the elementals at the four quarters,
We stand between the worlds with love.

She who dances the sliver moon,
Lover of life and earth guide me.
Enter in our circle join our circle,
All ye spirits who walk this night,
We bless those who have walked the path.

This is the crone's time and
With the Lord of the Shadows,
She is the passage from life to life.
That someday, we as well, shall rove,
We pour forth love on those you keep,
We offer peace unto their souls.

Nature’s spirits hold the shadow of the night,
Continuous turning of the spiral dance,
That goes and returns yet ever moves on.
With the ancient ones, I move with the dance,
Unperturbed love gives strength; give to gain,
Through the dark passages of time.

Blessed be this hallowed night,
Blessed be hands that join in the rites of love ~

Truly, this reads like a ballad and gives off vivid
impressions of reverence and ritual. You speak
of life, love and death and connect them all
in the context of dance, movement, and natural
progression. Wonderful response to the prompt.

I find this full of beauty and mystery...and feel a kinship with the spirit of the season. It is indeed a tribute to the hallowed eve, in my opinion, although I am no whiz when it comes to the ancient rituals and holidays. I think it's very well done.

Great blessing for the turn of the moon and the phases of the night. Perhaps you were a balladeer in a past life.
    Peace,
    Tom B.
