War of Hearts

Concealed in a warm embrace, the lovers blade
Is always there; invisible lest I do wrong
Then each stab is another wound made
Hoping this nightmare won’t last for too long

A double sided blade, the accursed thing
It cuts through my heart, leaves a scar so deep
This goes beyond the bloody words that sting
I want his heart, if only to keep.

Alone and losing the war of hearts
I yearn for his warmth, the love that he gives.
He pulls out his sword, our love departs
Now I truly see the beast in him lives

The love that I so wanted him to see
Disappeared when he thrust his sword through me

Wow! This is beautifully penned with powerful raw emotion, I’m so proud of you this is really a class manuscript. Penned in wonderful flowing meter you have mastered the contemporary sonnet. I love it!

    Love,
