Sitcom of daily doses,

malnourished brainstorm, raging -

Hop-scotch through medley once prescribed,

self-reliant upon doctor's own hazing -

Helping yourself, calming affect soothing,

child-proof caps, drooling from hasteful oozing -

Tamper with your brain,

double your four o'clock med -

Keeping track of sanity,

two addicts elope and wed -

Drowning in fear, tugging from aroma of enticing pill,

    WOW! Bear, your poem made my heart beat just as fast this afternoon as it did when I read it during the judging process. Whew! What a messed up life drug addiction causes. I can remember how obsessed I was, still am...and finally I have come to grips with the fact that it never really was about the drugs.

    Thank you for the speedy reminder in the reality of your words dear brother. We all can, and some will make it without the;

    "Peace is out of reach, warranty on life expired,
    emergency room visit, toe-tag acquired -"

    Thank you for this entry my dear friend, and may God keep you and continue to bless you!

    Always ♥

    This is powerful. It was gripping from the beginning to the end. I like how you show the reader the chaos of addiction. "keeping track of sanity" shows that the addict has a false sense of self control because these drugs were perscribed by a doctor. This has such a strong message about doctors. This is very personal to me. I watched my son go through this.
