I drove slowly, captivated by her majesty
My windows opened and this soul overwhelmed me
I pointed my finger at nature that made this heart stall
To think that I was worth this season’s Fall
Today, I sipped from a Grand Vision’s goblet
After 40 years, my imagination’s not exhausted yet
How amazing it was, to see the tight community of leaves dance
As they frolicked on streams of occurrence
There I was—just staring with a child-like shame
My mouth agape—but I never thought to learn their names
Brilliant yellows; teasing oranges; speckled, crimson reds
Naturally highlighting the trees along their edge
I was struck by ‘the live painting show’
I had to grapple with how little I know
The orbs in my sockets weren’t equipped for this treat
This heart delighted in the vibrant shedding, falling to my feet

This is dedicated to "Melrose", a new poet on AP (BUT she's not new to me). She has a beautiful soul and is a lover of nature. Hope this little piece gives her that sense of Autumn that she loves so much.
