(For my Mum and Dad)
Years pass by like falling autumn leaves,
one by one creating a beautiful carpet,
to dance to one more of the anniversaries
and celebrate your love’s beautiful secret!
With every passing day, Mum and Dad,
I see how your love grows for each other
amidst quarrels each moment you have had
nothing stops from bringing you together!
Sometimes I’m amazed, totally flabbergasted!
The way, the two of you lead your lives
with not a care in the world, all trials tasted,
joyfully stepping into another year as it arrives.
I wish I knew the secrets to this love of yours
I’ve grown with you, but never noticed anything,
except the love you gave us taking us to shores
of life and to all that we have been aiming.
Soon will come a time, when I will be married
and in a time when so many marriages go wrong,
your example of genuine love shall be carried,
something I learnt from you, to make mine strong.
Your love is beautiful like an autumnal heaven
trees that shed their leaves - your love for us
offering us life of faith, dignity and compassion
and teaching us to live in harmony and oneness.

Author notes
This is for my Mum and Dad who I speak about in my poem. They are all that, and much much more! They are celebrating their wedding anniversary on the 3rd of November. God Bless them.

A Wonderful Tribute
I feel kinda special because you used my contest to express these thoughts. Very nice!
Thank you for entering!

It sounds like you have a rare pair there
.
Cherish them whilst you have them that your own youngsters may be able to do the same.

Thanks Jim, I hope I have done well with this. Too bad at rhyme! but I try my best. Yeah my parents are a rare pair indeed! I have a lot to learn from them, and teach my own too.

wonderful dedication my friend, if only more people took the time to love each other like this, the world would be a much better place...

You cannot help but display your own love for two who love each other, and you too. Beautifully written for them, for you, and certainly for the sensibilities of the reader, me.
Truly one of the finer 2009 Autumn poems!
